Massage therapy and acupuncture have long been practiced throughout the centuries. Massage promotes well-being and provides relief from daily stress, muscle aches, and tension. Acupuncture on the other hand, stimulates pain relief, and helps in the prevention or treatment of various conditions by balancing and building the body’s life energies.

The types of treatment under each practice are numerous, each with varying benefits, depending on what illness it is trying to address. They all however, start on the same foundation, which is restoring the body’s natural physical, emotional, and spiritual balance.

While massage therapy and acupuncture are performed separately, using them to complement one another is key in total health restoration. That is why it is important to seek reliable practitioners of the two treatments, as it is more effective to support one aspect of the body while also impacting the rest.

At Berkeley Community Acupuncture and Massage Therapy, our main goal is to provide clients a one-stop shop for whole body health and well-being, which is exactly what we do through services that encompass everything in acupuncture and massage in Denver, CO.

One of the oldest and most common medical procedures in the world, acupuncture is the treatment we initially offered when Berkeley Community was founded. It is one of the key components of traditional Chinese medicine, and is known to aid in the activity of painkilling bio-chemicals like endorphins and immune system cells, which help regulate the nervous system. Our acupuncturists have a variety of specialties, including but not limited to the treatment of:

  • Anxiety
  • Common cold/flu prevention, sinusitis and allergies
  • Cupping

Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine combines elements of Chinese medicine with Acupuncture and may includes aspects Endocrinology, Immunology, and neurology. The goal is to get you specific nutritional based solutions that do not rely on the use of drugs or surgery to improve your body’s function. This modality looks at the patient from a “functional” view as opposed to a “pathological” view.

Starting from the beginning, the provider looks at the entirety of the client’s medical history before embarking on treatments which will lead to lasting health. By bringing homeostasis to the body in a “functional” manner, it allows for the prevention of disease and progression despite the lack of a diagnosis or an existing diagnosis.

Functional Medicine is appropriate for those that are serious about getting results and taking the necessary steps to make it happen; however, it is not a “quick fix” therapy. It takes time to peel away at layers of imbalances to achieve optimal health. This is an appropriate modality for the patient that is wanting to fix the cause of the problem as opposed to masking it and willing to embark on the process needed to achieve results.

Functional Medicine may be appropriate for clients with:

  • Autoimmune disorders (such as Hashimoto’s disease)
  • Endocrine disorders (such as Diabetes and thyroid imbalances
  • Hormonal imbalances (such as infertility, PCOS, menstrual disorders, low libido, menopause, erectile dysfunction, low testosterone)
  • Inflammatory disorders
  • Neurological disorders (such as depression, ADD/ADHD, autism)

If you’re feeling frustrated with no progress despite allopathic care, Functional Medicine may help.
