When community is an intrinsic part of your business name, offering some sort of charitable work is almost always a foregone conclusion. At Berkeley Community Acupuncture and Massage Therapy, that distinction rubs down on us. On one Sunday each month, Matt Sweeney works with us to provide relief to people with chronic pain, stress, stomach problems, weight loss, and so much more through community acupuncture in Denver.

Matt brings, quite literally, to the table a wealth of experience and education in eastern medicine. He holds a Master of Science in Acupuncture and in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver. A licensed acupuncturist in the state of Colorado, he also holds accreditation from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Although acupuncture is Matt’s way of life today, it wasn’t always so. Having graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral psychology, he was initially involved in the high-stress field of real estate. Seeking relief for his anxiety through alternative medicine led him to Chinese medicine and acupuncture. This eventually led him to contemplate studying acupuncture and changing careers in 2008.

It is from this experience that Matt found the inspiration to help others in a more altruistic fashion. Motivated primarily by a desire to help individuals find relief for their issues rather than personal gain, Matt charges the community room a sliding scale fee of $25-45, making his Sunday services an incredible benefit to patients who couldn’t normally afford acupuncture sessions.

In his work with us, Matt focusses on stress relief, sports injuries, chronic pain, stomach issues, and women’s issues. However, always ready to help, he also welcomes the opportunity both to learn and to treat whatever other ailments arise with the body.

Matt’s last session with us was on July 13, and it was a resounding success, as always. We look forward to working with him again in August and invite everyone seeking out effective Denver pain management through alternative medicine to look out for the next date.

Besides Matt’s monthly Sunday sessions, Berkeley Community Acupuncture and Massage Therapy is keen on providing other affordable acupuncture and massage offers to help individuals stay in peak physical health.
